Being Mary Jane Season 4 Episode 14

Being Mary Jane has morphed into being straight-out propaganda for the gay agenda; and a hit piece against Christians. Tonight Mary Jane and her brother were full-out on their “let’s us as black people embrace homosexuality regardless of our religious beliefs nor political affiliation.

They went so far as present the contemporary PC lie that the March On Washington was Bayard Rustin’s idea. Bayard Rustin was a flaming Quaker who associated himself with the already well-developed Civil Rights Movement. He was one of the main organizers for the event, but it was not his idea. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) network headed many marches that led up to the March On Washington. Bayard had skills, but was a thorn in the side of the leadership because of his blatant homosexual activities. He was arrested for having anal sex with two white men in a car on a public street. As scandalous as that embarrassment is today, think about how obscenely scandalous it was back then. He did not have a seat at the SCLC conference table, whose membership was exclusively composed of ordained ministers. And he was not present at the official photo sessions such as the Lincoln Memorial, and other photo ops that included White House visits. He was a high level facilitator who represented Quakers. This latter-day attempt to cast an open homosexual as the leadership of the Civil Rights is an contemporary attempt at outrageous historical revisionism.

Tonight Mary Jane also was cast to show open contempt for Christianity. During her conversation with her homosexual hairdresser, when both were picking up items from a dropped boxed, she grimaced, pursed her lips when she said to him through clinched teeth in a disdainful manner, “Hand me the crucifix,” as if she didn’t want to touch it.

    • I don’t agree with everything but you do make some points. Rustin was the person who pushed the whole non-violence part of the black civil rights campaign and there are a few not a lot but a few pictures of him at the march with the yup, cigarette hanging from him mouth. lol. However, eventually Rustin did get pushed out mainly because of his inappropriate behavior not necessarily solely on being gay. I don’t believe anyone regardless of sexual orientation should do sexual acts including making out yup making out in public. This show got black gays looking stupid and equating them to nothing but sexual objects with no self control over their bodies. The sad part is if you look at the credits, they hired black gays and gay allies to write and direct the last two episodes.

What really bothered me about this episode was the conversation she had with the PR woman. The solution to racism was to ignore it and move on. Really?! Ignoring racism has gotten black/African-Americans -DOS (Descendant of slaves) NO WHERE! It is time we stand-up and become politically educated. It is important that we know who Nina Turner is and make her voice important. We must stop being used and make the third-party position count regardless of one’s religious belief. The Civil Rights Movement started out non-violent; before Martin Luther King, before Bayard Rustin. It is an insult to the legacy of the brave souls would had the nerve to stand up against the terrorism inflicted upon the daily lives of black people, particularly in the south; for people to project that the very people who had endured centuries of wanton black murder at the hands of every ilk of white, that their movement had to be non-violent.

The Civil Rights Movement was started by ordinary black Christian people who had respectively, all over the South, had had enough. From its very origins it was non-violent. They adopted the scriptural position to ”
turn the other cheek,” in order to take their stand. You think outsiders had to go down there to tell those black southerners that they couldn’t out-gun those blood-thirsty whites who had been slaughtering them for centuries? No it wasn’t MLK(he had to be drafted to leadership after the movement that had already started; nor Bayard Rustin who was a relative late-comer, nor Mahatma Ghandi, who progressive whites credit with the model. It was the intelligent brave hearts of black Christian Americans that led them to draw the non-violent line it the sand. The non-violent training was for the outsiders who went south to join the movement. They had to be taught how to retrain themselves. The black southerners already knew how to do that from centuries of experience.

        • Biscuit

I am just here for the intelligent rebuttals above!

          • pbrown0209

Likewise! But it’s somewhat somber. Blacks will NEVER get out of our own way. We can’t even decide upon WHO “started” the non-violent portion of civil rights! We are TOO busy worried about who’s sleeping with who!! If black people could focus on the topic at hand and stop JUDGING each other, we can move. Until then we will be arguing over who started what. Who can sleep with who. It’s a distraction…

          • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

            Wait…What?

          • pbrown0209

If people worry about themselves we can actually move forward as a collective…

          • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

True, but Mary Jane is such an important show to discuss because there are many Black Women who act just like her. I’ve said since Season 1 when she was stupid for Andre and David, that BMJ TV Series shows Black Women what NOT to do “while juggling home, work, self, family and friends”. These narratives are actually happening in the Female Black Community. And Black Women are having casual sex being used by men (I didn’t say black men, all races of men) just like Mary Jane and still being left alone, trying to figure out why said men they are sleeping with won’t commit to them married or not. The show was originally named Single Black Female. Now Black Women aren’t the only women acting self-sabotaging like MJ, but I only care about the problems in the Female Black Community–my community. MJ is ourselves, and we need to be worried.

RIGHT! I loveeeeee intellectual minds. These points of views need to be written directly to BET executives ( they’ll probably dismiss it but still needs to be voiced 1k+times) where our thoughts can be heard. I really don’t like the subliminal messages in tv shows and I can’t help but dissect everything the media tries to feed us as some form of propaganda bs. Stay woke y’all! #lovethesetypesofdiscussions

          • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Won’t help. BET is not Black Owned Anymore. BET is going in a different direction. Just like Essence years ago. Essence, XXL, Ebony, Huff Post Black Voices, The Root, and BET NOT Black Owned. These shows need to move to TVOne.

          • Libra luv

            You’re right sad but true

          • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

            Always!

        • cltrotter

HILARIOUS how ya’ll can be so self righteous about a show, that you’re PIRATING ONLINE for free. Take your fake intellect elsewhere, you didn’t have to watch.

          • mdottwo

“Pirating”? Being Mary Jane is broadcast live on the BET website.
“Fake intellect”? There’s nothing fake about the ability to detect, decipher and analyze cultural, political and social propaganda that is spewed at the American public 24/7. Intellectual discourse is not an act of “self righteous(ness)”; it is necessary to keep one’s indigenous mind. It is necessary to fight subliminal seduction.

On a basic level, the American airwaves belong to the American people, and those citizens have a right to question, analyze and even protest anything that comes across those airwaves into their living rooms.

You seem to be such a slavish worshipper of popular culture and popular culture idols, that you unquestionably swallow everything they feed you; and are offended it everyone else doesn’t do the same.

    • Fran Frano

First. lets address this “gay agenda”- showing people, marginalized people, at any point in time in popular culture can and is often times viewed as an agenda. Now, since you didn’t say whether or not you view this “agenda” as a negative or positive, I will not address your own leanings, albeit the very nature of your post suggests you also have an agenda. Basically, we ALL HAVE OUR OWN AGENDA. So let all viewpoints and counter view points contend and history will show who is right from who is wrong. History has a way of absolving and convicting.

Secondly, the fact that you would have to critique one of your very own, almost but unsuccessfully sought to diminish and reduce his contribution because of his sexuality and actions, says to me you also have an agenda; one which isn’t about inclusivity, but hinged on the onerous and tyrannical principles of Christianity.

I will end by saying that, the quicker black people realise and accept that majority of their problems emanated and continues to be promulgated through Christianity is the better they will be. Having contempt for Christian is not a bad thing, it speaks to ones ability to unpack and reimagine a life where you are not constricted and subjected to a life that you can never live up to. So, perhaps you need to rethink your agenda of placing the religion of the WHITE CHRISTIAN MAN (the most powerful of them all) on a pedestal. How is it that you failed to see that Dani, a racist, is a Southern Christian? isnt she the most detestable character on the show?

      • mdottwo

Having contempt for Christian is not a bad thing,

        • Fran Frano

Here is where you are wrong and living in a wrapped reality, somewhere that you are incapable of dealing with the truth.

          1. There would be no need to spend billions of dollars on a campaign to restore the dignity of homosexuals and allow them the right to live in the land of the free that you so willingly and blindly accept as home (though you were wrongfully taken here under the guise of Christianity-this i will address later). It is because of the pervasive and invasive nature of traditional religions why some have had to spend millions to help others like you give “others” a chance. Those who do not look or act like you do, according to your religion, are to be vilified or delivered at all cost.

          2. If you are black, remember in this country you were once considered “other”. An entity, a savage, something to be delivered by any means necessary even if it means to capture, enslave and beaten to submission, but by any means necessary you would see the light, Christianity. And do you know where the light was? The West. The same space that you now so freely accept and glorify for having given us the “black church” (sounds so very odd even its basic semantic construct). But you fail to realise that the same space that gave you the black church is the same space that gives rise the KKK, who btw praise and worship the very same Lord and Saviour that you do.

          3. Compare the west to other parts of the world that doesn’t have Christianity??? And this is how I know your knowledge and reading of history and current affairs are incredibly limited. I could go into the historical facts of how the West used Christianity to divide and conquer, I could explain to how the west that you so gladly accept as the beacon of goodness has sought to undermine and underdeveloped other sections of the world all in the name of God, I could also present historical data to show how the seat of power in Christendom has always been and will continue to be occupied by the white man, but somehow I feel like this would be lost on you. So, selah.

          • mdottwo

God made clocks go forward in order that we humans clearly understand that there is a past, present and future. Life and history is about change. That which was in one point in time, is not in a later point in time. Whites did not “give ” us the black church – we built it. It’s ours. Nobody dictated how it would be structured or what would be said or done in it. Whatever it is, in its varied entities and varied – it’s wholly ours. That why the music that comes out of it, is like non other created in the history of man.

We are not who or what others say we are. We are who and what we say we are. What do we say we are right now? Given our knowledge of the our history in this nation – what do we as a collective say we are right this minute? This year we celebrate 400 years of recorded history in this land. We have bled rivers of blood, and shed oceans of tears in our journey here. Do we claim ownership of this place, or do we voluntarily, as the old church people use to say, continue “take low”?

There are many among us who demand that this nation live up to its creed, and offer them the same dream it offers others who come here. They refuse to allow the past nor contemporary nay-sayers to dictate their future. So, they don’t allow issues of the past to impede them nor dampen their dreams. They work hard; listen to good advice; and consider themselves capable of any worthy human endeavor. And they quietly achieve. Between 2013 and 2019 accredited US universities conferred 365,264 Doctorate and Masters degrees upon indigenous African Americans. Over that same time frame more than 300,000 bachelors and associate degrees were awarded to indigenous African American undergraduate students. That does not include the licensed carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc. Last fall the historically black college and university network had the highest enrollment in its 100 year history. Last year a study indicated that African American women were among the top three groups classified by sex and race, registered in US colleges. The overwhelming majority, between 87% and 91% of African American self-identify as Christian, come from families that belong to African American led churches. Churches that encourage literacy, reward educational accomplishment with scholarships, and promote their graduates via their extensive church networks.

Those who seek vengeance, constantly harken to the bad past. Those who live free and achieve, look toward their bright future.

  • Nicole Sanders

Honey that tongue lashing she gave that white girl gave me the chills 😁

    • RealTalk

Right! She gave that straight from the ancestors. lol

      • Nicole Sanders

Yessss I felt that in my spirit honey lol

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Right but as #BlackWomenAtWork we can’t do this. We get fired. If MJ wasn’t so awful in all aspects of her life BMJ Writers and Producers should have made it a dream.

  • RealTalk

Mary Jane you had ONE JOB! Put that dudes stuff back. Not only is that an invasion of privacy but it’s all out rude. That dudes personal and financial business IN A BOX AT THE TOP OF HIS CLOSET is his and his alone. I have no idea why people are that nosey to be snooping in someones personal stash like that. If he breaks up with her ass for it, that’s good for her because she brought that on herself. That woman is crazy. lol She’s a walking relationship sabotage.

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

I think he was testing her to see if He could TRUST HER..He Can’t so….

      • RealTalk

        Yeah she failed miserably!

  • Williams TO

    You Petty AF !

  • Zuri A.

I knew as soon as I saw Deray, I knew this was gonna be some bullshit…. More agenda

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Of course. That is who is running BET.

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Yea. That’s who owns BET now though. I want to stop watching mainly bc I hate the character MJ. She is awful and hopeless right now. But I want to stick it out to see if she gets it together. This needs to be this shows last season.

  • Denae Burchall

MJ gave her a Deliver Us From Eva READDDDD!!!

  • Boo bear

    I love u baby boo.

  • Randy Watson

this show becoming to gay i cannot stand the hard pushing of the gay agenda on our culture………..i will no long be watching

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

I want to stop watching too. I feel like Gabrielle Union sold out to continue this show. #2. I will keep watching until the last episode this Season. MJ is awful. I just want to see if she gets herself together.

  • Ancient Wisdom

“I thought it was because Rhonda needed another black!”

Yeah imma call it I’m going to go ahead and call bullshit! Contrary to what you might believe white people do not have a monopoly on unique eye color any more than they do on intelligence which is a fact that you drive home on a regular basis. So the next time you get the urge to exercise free speech by unclogging that verbal diarrhea factory you call a mouth, spewing you’re partisian bull s*** all over this studio, do us all a favor and shut the hell up you ill-mannered over-privileged under-educated simpleton. SHUT UP!!! Mary Jane read her for Filth deservedly so.

  • Ancient Wisdom

I am convinced that no black show music or any other form of media will get green-lighted without that black person first agreeing to exploit the gay transgender agenda.

    • Fran Frano

I dont get it? Being Mary Jane is supposed to be a show about a black career woman navigating her way through work, relationship, family etc. Are we to assume that throughout all this she will not encounter gay people? What world is that? Are is it that we should illogically write movies, songs, books etc and act like these people don’t exists so as to appease the overly and irrational sensitive sensibilities of people like you.

      • Ancient Wisdom

You are clearly sleepwalking therefore ill-equipped to have any type of intelligent conversation with me. Sweet dreams!

      • mdottwo

Gays represent almost 1% of the black population; and 2% of the whole US population. They are not that prevalent. However the pro-gay propaganda presented on BMJ is designed to indict black Christians, who are the overwhelming majority of black Americans, for their rejection of homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle.

        • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

But, Gays are loaded. They can buy anything. They usually don’t have children and their parents are usually helicopter parents (even before we made up the term to describe their type of behavior) and gays parents take care of them until their parents die—usually

          • mdottwo

Black gays are not white gays. They are not any more “loaded” than any other educated black professional. Again, black gay numbers are small over and against the majority of black professionals, who have a long history of not only taking care of their nuclear families, but parents and extended family. Black gays are not in any way more capable, nor more supportive of their families, than the rest of black Americans of equal class range.

          • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Right. The Black Gays don’t run networks, and this is why the pro-gay propaganda is being shoved in our faces constantly. Hence on BET–which isn’t black-owned anymore. Even Mark, the Black Gay best friend of MJ, is even gone.

  • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

#1- Women, Women, guys let you in their houses to TEST to see if he can TRUST YOU. He can’t trust her. How is it that you share personal stuff about somebody else with someone else. Just awful.
#2-How is it that MJ and Justin are in relationships he never takes her out or is seen in public. *my Kara voice talking to Marisol* lol Just because you are sleeping with him doesn’t mean you are in a relationship.
#3-The use of the word SHIT is overused
    #4-MJ has no self control
#5-A man’s pockets has nothing to do with if he is a good person and a good man for you. Women got it twisted.

    • RealTalk

      ALL OF THIS!!!

      • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Thank you sir. I care so much ( I do have a life) because believe it or not there are real Black Women who act just like her. Plus we must not forget that Gabrielle Union plays acts her ass of as Mary Jane because Gabrielle Union used to be a mean-girl just like Mary Jane.

        • RealTalk

Now the only thing i’ll have to edit for you is #2. Remember they were trying to keep a low profile so no one from work would know they were dating. I’m sure they were just being cautious. It always happens. You go to a hole in a the wall to eat or have a drink and you see that one coworker you don’t like. lol Random shit like that.

  • shutupforever

I didn’t finish..I was so bored with this episode and the direction of the show in general. Sometimes, BMJ can be current but sometimes it’s a little outdated and trying to be on trend. (1) Like why bring up the fact of homosexuals in the “movement” now? I think this discussion has been had many times and Christian people are literally never going to change their minds. I didn’t even know Patrick was a blacktivist, I seemed to have missed that part of the show? That segment was random (2) I hate seeing professional public figures acting on television…it makes them seem so…disingenuous (looking @ you Cory Booker, & DeRay Mckesson) (3) MJ blowing up at the Tomi Lahren-esque character also seems outdated given that the girl was fired and dragged through the mud much to my delight. But I digress. MJ’s verbal beatdown didn’t feel all that celebratory to me because it failed to show how people really have to deal with these “micro”-aggressions aka abuse. I agree with the PR agent on this: Racism is a disease of the mind. No way will I be stomping around my office calling out yt/unwoke people for every little thing that I hear. Instead of ripping her a new one, I wish the show would address the bitterness that we have to deal with as a result. How we as black women resolve that anger privately not just publicy. And most importantly (4) Michael Ealy…really? I don’t feel the chemistry. This relationship is a snoozefest.

I am only watching for Niecy at this point. You can get it together girl! I believe in you!

  • HollywoodHotMouth

sorry I don’t like the hairstylist.

  • Ineedtoknow555

Its like this girl don’t wanna be happy 😩. Lemme find out Justin has cameras in his house 😫 I can’t with this bih…

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

That would be juicy. And I hope he ‘tears a new asshole into MJ”. Like I don’t want my own daughter to invade my privacy, ’cause I don’t invade hers. I woulda’ changed my door code on MJ’s butt. Because you can change codes on security systems by cell phones now. I mean I can’t believe she took the man’s personal items and brought it to her house. MJ is effen nuts.

      • Ineedtoknow555

Right?! She finally lands a man that is good for her personally and professionally and she goes and pulls a stunt like this. Justin seems like a very private and organized person so for him to give access to his home and his life to MJ like that must have a show of trust, which MJ broke. He is not gonna take it well or at all when he finds out. Then the story will be MJ lost what could have been her perfect man who happens to be worth 30 MILLION DOLLARS. Lol. You stupid bitch. Im here for all of it ☕

  • El Bar

For the ones who are questioning the gay agenda, open your minds and see through your third eye. The gay agenda is part of population control, what better way to stop black people from reproducing? Same sex couples can’t produce offspring the natural way. #offtopic

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

Of course it is. We Black Folk know. And again I say I hope this is Gabrielle Union’s last season doing this show. She’s sold out if she continues. I know she has a contract. Makes me wonder if the new direction of the show is why the Akils jumped ship. I do know that Gabrielle Union next money making jobs are her Hair care line (shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer etc.) and her book. We Need More Wine. And last year HGTV was thinking about a reality show about her and her husband. and she has two movies. 1 currently filming and 1 post-production that will be released.

  • tek neek

i ain’t gonna lie, i loved this episode with all the craziness.

  • ashley

TRUST ME, JUSTIN HAS CAMERAS IN HIS HOUSE.

    • FutureFilmProductionAccountant

I would lmao! if he does. I never even thought about that.
